Mr Lark taught my two children piano from their first lessons at the age of eight through to both of them achieving ABRSM grade 8 by the age of 16, passing most of their exams with merit or distinction.  The lessons were fun yet clearly well prepared and individual for each child and carefully logged in a notebook giving a set challenge to achieve before the next lesson. 

 

They were taught new pieces in context with theory and history rather than just learning notes.  Each child had very different musical interests and John was enthusiastic to work with these.  He was a stickler for precision and detail for technique, which definitely reaped rewards going through the grades. 

 

He was an excellent teacher and the children remember their lessons happily and continue to play and learn new pieces for themselves now they are at university.
